This post is relevant to anyone going to China. Since Facebook, parts of
Google, YouTube, etc. is blocked by the Chinese government, many
tourists look for ways to get around the block.
There are ways to do this for free, but they are rather insecure and to
succeed you will probably have to waste a lot of your precious
vacation-time. When we were in China last year, we stumbled across an
excellent solution to the problem -
SecuriTales is a proxy server that allows you to access Facebook and all
other blocked sites while you're in China. You connect to their foreign
servers and it guarantees you complete security. While there may be
other solutions that'll work just as fine, we found hide my real ip to be
the most reliable of all proxy servers we tried. The price is currently 20$ for one year, but if you cancel the service within a month after
sign-up, you will receive a complete refund of your money. So if you're
staying for less than a month, it's definitely worth looking into
If you're still insecure, it's even possible to try it out for free for
10 minutes, just to check if your blocked site really is accessible
through their servers.
If you're in China, give it a go!
